A lot of people that are racists are exactly the same as the stereotypes they despise.
A lot of the people that talk about a certain group being lazy are actually lazy themselves. They don't see it in themselves, but they see it in others.
I personally find racism in this time period to be hilariously ridiculous. Actual racism like that entire Jena situation is buried in the news until it boils over, but Michael Richards saying "nigger" or Don Imus saying "nappy-headed hoes" grabs national attention instantly.
We're so quick to call "RACIST!" on the most petty, inconsequential shit, but the actually horrible stuff is avoided like the plague.
And racism, while still around, is mostly dead. I only know a few racists and they're old. It's just the way they were brought up to think. It doesn't make it right in the least, but you do have to be taught racism. I'm glad it never caught on with me.
