Re:For Those of You Missing Penn Radio - 2007/12/11 15:21 I've listened to three Tommy Boyd shows, now, and I have to say that it is mildly listenable, and not anywhere of the caliber of Penn's show. More often than not the guys on the Tommy Boyd show are abusive, egotistical, and purposefully obtuse (when it suits them). They remind me more of the standard "shock jock" types than Penn.
When I first listened, I thought that maybe Tommy and his band of arrogant clowns were having a joke on the "unsuspecting" listener...in the same way that Phil Henry does. After almost nine hours of hearing them take mostly unusable phone calls and talking over the good ones, I've come to the conclusion that they're probably just cheeky bastards who think that they are all they claim they are (savvy showstoppers, and entertainment media moguls). There is no civil discourse on the show, unless it suits them...they only take the moral high road when they feel they're points are unassailable; otherwise they bully and browbeat, talking over the valid points and claiming that the caller hasn't got a leg to stand on...in the US we see this same browbeating on the conservative "news" shows. Poor, poor substitute for Penn and Michael.
