Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/13 17:37 it doesn't really tell how they do it. it's just one person's best guess, correct? and plus i'm already familiar with most of the methods used in the bullet catch, and i have my own idea of how it works.

but i think out of respect for penn and tellers act this shouldn't be posted. because they will tell us how they do the tricks that they want us to know.

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/13 19:41 I'll leave it up for now as it appears it is just a guess on how they do the trick not someone with inside information on Penn & teller's act.

If enough people complain about this then I'll take it down..

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/13 20:09 NO! Even if people complain leave it up man.

Speculation is fun and if someone doesn't like it - they don't have to read it.

Wait a second, then why put up the pictures of Mohhamed?
Either everything's OK, or nothing is OK.

I vote for "everything".

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/13 23:43 I've always wondered how it was done and this is a good theory but I think that P&T's version would be a bit more elaborate than this.

I say leave it up. I'm the kind of person how will ultimately want to find out how it works but I allow myself to at least formulate a plan my self before I find out.

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/14 04:36 If you guys check the episode of the radio show with Criss Angel, they talk about the bulled catch briefly. Criss was saying that hes was getting prepared to do the bullet catch for his show which was cut and clearly says "I had a metal cup fashioned"

I don't know if this was a bald-faced lie (as is usual for magicians) or if he was being honest, however Criss had just reveled another trick.

I always thought that the bullet catch was done with a reduced charge in the bullet, a metal cup fit to your mouth and a friend with REALLY good aim. Then again Criss Angel tends to do things the hard way and this could easily be the way that P&T do it because they are not as stupid as him (Don't take me the wrong way Criss Angel is awesome).

Anyways now P&T do a double bullet catch which if you think about, makes the whole thing way easier.

Oh and if anyone here is interested I have like 100 pdf files of a whole range of magic tricks which i could up load. No P&T stuff because as you know they design most of their own tricks however they use alot of the tecniques in these older tricks in desinging their illusions.

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/14 05:04 If you watch the Penn & Teller Magic & Mystery Tour DVD, and see the Indian guy doing the bullet trick.. you'll see how it's done.. it's just a slight of hand move. More than likely, with Penn & Teller's stunt, the only slight is done with the slug, with something powered by the small powder charge to break the glass, but not go enough distance to hit each other, such as the suggested wax backing.

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/14 07:22 The pdf of P&T's bullet catch 'secret' is incomplete.

It has a really cool/clever part missing.

So, if my vote counts, I'd prefer you kept it on the forums as it's quite entertaining (and only half right*)

*and even that half is a bit iffy...
there is no possible use for a signature* except to demonstrate how funny/geeky/cynical/pathetic you are.

*including this one

Re:secret of the bullet catch - 2006/04/16 00:45 I know a couple things about the bullet catch
1) they are given the 'mouth bullet' with the kevlar vest, and they put it in their mouth as they're sliding the vest on
2) the bullets are made of clay or some such substance which breaks apart after hitting the glass plane. It's still a dangerous trick because clay bullets can hurt you, but ideally the bullet will be vapourised by the time it actually gets to the person.
