Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/18 13:23 Gotten through part 1 so far.

One complaint I have is with the picture. If you haven't heard of these people, you can't tell which one is which by comparing the caption to the picture.

I do love the round table discussion format. One of my favorite shows on IFC was "Dinner for Five", and when it went away, that was about the time I cancelled that tier of cable.

Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/18 16:47 Good point - here's a handy guide to Atheists:

Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/20 15:24 I don't think Christopher Hitchens is good for discussion. If he were just talking by himself, that would've been one thing, but he kept interrupting. Oh well... At least what he had to say was good.

My only real complaint is that it was too short, but from what I understand, there is more to come.

Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/20 15:26 LOL...the guide for Atheists. Instead of "Don't Panic" on the cover, does it have "NO GOD!" ?

Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/20 19:47 Hitchens, of course, pictured with a cigarette.

This is why I'm surprised whenever I hear about atheists who are well-adjusted and don't drink or otherwise self-medicate. I seem more like Hitchens, where I see a world that will probably destroy itself in the name of Allah, legions of women who won't have sex because they don't believe in birth control, and taboos about a lot of the things I believe in, and if I didn't know better than to drink when I'm depressed, I'd certainly be posting from the bottom of a bottle I'd hidden in my desk at work.

If I'd known the emotional toll of atheism, I perhaps would have gotten my degree in science instead of engineering.

Re:Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchen - 2007/12/21 00:01 I don't drink or smoke or do drugs simply because I don't want to.

I'm don't want to pay for a habit.

I'm a shitty driver when I'm sober.

I already have a short temper.

Throw any sort of substance into that mix and trouble will ensue.
