BS airs in Australia - 2006/07/25 06:32 I have no idea how many of you from down under visit here (not many I would guess) but this is for anyone that it may apply to.

Tonight after 3 years Bullshit finally airs on Australian free to air TV. It's on Channel Nine at 10:30pm and is a double episode. A warning though they will be heavily censored and cut down due to a M rating and the fact they are taking 30 minute shows and chopping them down to 22 minutes.

That said it's better than nothing and it's good to see that they will finally get a public showing down here, I can also stop explaining who P&T are.

Just keeping everybody unto date and informed. Carry on.

Re:BS airs in Australia - 2006/07/25 07:37 I thought Australian TV was kind of liberal about things... nudity, swearing, etc. It could probably run in Canada on broadcast TV. They show softcore on some stations. Naked News used to be broadcast on a Toronto TV station.

Re:BS airs in Australia - 2006/07/25 10:41 I suppose Australia is very liberal with the TV but there are limits, this seamed like the kind of show that would step over the boundaries. However all the cursing and nudity was intact especially since they started off with the episode about Sex.

That said though all the interviews where cut down and the show moved at a surprisingly fast pace. You don't realize just how well edited together the show is until they rip it apart. Not only that but they cut off about 3 or 4 minutes off the end of one episode. Not happy about that.

While they got all the main points across and the format is still very similar it just doesn't quite feel right. I suppose that's what the DVD's are for.

Re:BS airs in Australia - 2006/07/25 14:04 Well they have to add comericals if it is on broadcast.

Re:BS airs in Australia - 2007/05/28 02:12 Hey, first post, first of many I hope.

I am 17, Australian, and truly believe in giving freedom to the people.

I saw BS on channel 9 all that way back.
The episode (cant remember which) made fun of something sensitive and was taken off the air a week or so later.

Note on Australia.

WE currently have NO bill of rights.
Freedom of speech is not even protected under our constitution.

Its a pity that it wasn't picked up by the ABC or SBS as they generally don't give a stuff about upsetting people. In fact I think the ABC goes out of its way to upset with programs like Chaser. They are constantly pissing off Malayasia & Indonesia with their 4 Corners reports.

Even though we don't have a bill of rights I believe that we have a greater freedom than people in the US. In a weird way we just know we have freedom, we don't need some document to tell us we do.

Totally off topic but anyone catch the Dawkins 'Root of all evil' over the past 2 weeks on the ABC?

Our government forces us to vote in all major elections or face hefty fines or jail time. I don't believe that is more free than the US who have the CHOICE to vote. Our government also has the right to change pretty much anything they see fit, whereas the US has certains laws and rights which cannot be changed. Australia isn't as free as we would like to believe.

By the way, huge fan of Penn and Teller. But Channel 9 don't show bullshit anymore but to answer the question of its editing and censorship, it was edited to fit into the 30 minute timeslot but all swear words were in, after a certain time at night all the channels are pretty lenient about profanity and all that which is a good thing. Since it's off air Ive bought all the seasons on DVD, I love ebay!
