That was a hell of a lot of stuff, would it have all fit in Penn's Mini? Of course not! Would it have all fit in a Tercel/Corolla? Probably not. Not really a fair comparison. The rest of the show was great.
Like with most episodes, they stayed true to their claim: fair and biased. There's plenty of important evidence and points against using nukes for energy that they glossed right past. But claiming that all the hippies have to ride on is symbolism is factually incorrect.
The hybrid bullshit experiment was also a little shady. Certainly the advertised MPG is WAY better than the results they found. I also have a coworker with one who gets well into the 50s, unlike the lesbians in the experiment (my co-worker happens to be a lesbian too btw).
And they didn't even consider hybrid SUVs, such as the Ford Escape hybrid. THAT would be an appropriate vehicle for a roadtrip and family of four. Why did they even do such a test on a tiny compact? Does Car and Driver magazine review the Pinto as a family sedan for vacations?
A very spotty episode overall. But entertaining as usual none the less.
