In Ontario (not sure about the rest of Canada), a woman does have the right to go topless as a man.
This not unattractive university student named Gwen Jacobs decided to go for a stroll on a very hot day. Some guy was sitting on his porch and saw her coming up the street. Now this is the hilarious part, he ran back into his house to get a beer. I guess he can't enjoy a topless woman without a beer in hand. By the time he came out, she was up the street. He shouted at her to turn around, come back, etc. She told him to fuck off. He called the police. She was arrested. It went to the Ontario supreme court and they indeed ruled the law was unconstitutional.
The effect on society? Were women going to church topless? Were teenage squeegie girls cleaning windows topless for extra money? Nada. Natch. Granted the first weekend after the ruling some women took advantage and made a statement. But after that, you're lucky to even see a woman take her top off at a beach. Oddly, lots of guys figured the court compelled women to go topless and they started harassing women at the beach for not going topless.

Reminds me of Penn's disappointment when fewer female fans than he expected sent him nude pictures of themselves when he asked (and asked, and asked) for it on the radio show.

Yeah. Another good point raised on Penn Radio that they kind of dropped the ball on.

I thought it was a really funny and entertaining episode. The cancer part was enlightening, especially the part about how much of the money donated towards walk-a-thons go towards paying the overhead of the events!
But ... I dunno, maybe I'm just spoiled by the radio show. Penn's covered the a lot of these points about breast hysteria on the show, and in greater depth, so this also struck me as pretty content-light.
(Breast - points. Huh-huh-huh *Butthead laugh*)

I wondered the same thing when they said that on the show. The AFAN organization is a local charity rather than a big, national one. They offer housing, food, transportation, and other services to people living with AIDS in southern Nevada. Certainly sounds like they are accomplishing a lot of 'real' things, rather than just spending huge chunks of money on events and awareness campaigns.

Its better to provide them with something that will make there life better now, Instead of saying "In 20 years we may have a cure"
