Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/06 20:39 Alright saw it. Nice boobs, although I'm still not a fan of fake boobs. They should have addressed the breast implant lawsuit. Did they ever cover that on BS?

In Ontario (not sure about the rest of Canada), a woman does have the right to go topless as a man.

http://www.fcn.ca/Gwen.html

This not unattractive university student named Gwen Jacobs decided to go for a stroll on a very hot day. Some guy was sitting on his porch and saw her coming up the street. Now this is the hilarious part, he ran back into his house to get a beer. I guess he can't enjoy a topless woman without a beer in hand. By the time he came out, she was up the street. He shouted at her to turn around, come back, etc. She told him to fuck off. He called the police. She was arrested. It went to the Ontario supreme court and they indeed ruled the law was unconstitutional.

The effect on society? Were women going to church topless? Were teenage squeegie girls cleaning windows topless for extra money? Nada. Natch. Granted the first weekend after the ruling some women took advantage and made a statement. But after that, you're lucky to even see a woman take her top off at a beach. Oddly, lots of guys figured the court compelled women to go topless and they started harassing women at the beach for not going topless.

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/06 22:51 Good stuff, Karl!

Reminds me of Penn's disappointment when fewer female fans than he expected sent him nude pictures of themselves when he asked (and asked, and asked) for it on the radio show.

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/07 00:25 i thought this episode was gonna focus on the la leche league because penn seems to not be a fan of them from comments he made on the radio show, did they actually find real evidence that supported what the la leche league was actually saying, or did the not have time?

Yeah. Another good point raised on Penn Radio that they kind of dropped the ball on.

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/07 12:44 This episode was really all over the place, didn't have a whole lot interesting to say. The part about breast cancer was pretty cool, but not in-depth at all.

The presentation, as always, was great though.

I thought it was a really funny and entertaining episode. The cancer part was enlightening, especially the part about how much of the money donated towards walk-a-thons go towards paying the overhead of the events!

But ... I dunno, maybe I'm just spoiled by the radio show. Penn's covered the a lot of these points about breast hysteria on the show, and in greater depth, so this also struck me as pretty content-light.

(Breast - points. Huh-huh-huh *Butthead laugh*)

Hey JoMadge, I just noticed your signature. Do you think P&T feel that the AFAN Walk for AIDS is better managed than the cancer walks?

I wondered the same thing when they said that on the show. The AFAN organization is a local charity rather than a big, national one. They offer housing, food, transportation, and other services to people living with AIDS in southern Nevada. Certainly sounds like they are accomplishing a lot of 'real' things, rather than just spending huge chunks of money on events and awareness campaigns.

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/08 11:15 I think its that AFAN provides housing, food and so on whereas most breat cancer or cancer walks in general , the money there goes towards a cure. Its better to provide them with something that will make there life better now, Instead of saying "In 20 years we may have a cure"

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/08 23:42 I just don't think that La Leche was where he wanted to go. I'll bet the writers wanted to focus on the crazy public stigma around breasts, and not look at breast feeding hysteria.

Re:Breast Hysteria - 2007/04/09 13:24 That bit about the walk-a-thons sunk my heart a little, since those are a great way to meet women, and a good excuse to take a walk. But I figure my $35 entry fee is mostly going to the free T-shirt, especially if I can't sign up any sponsors.
