Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/18 09:23I remember catching one of the eps on CBC. They were in China and Penn had a funny line about "when you're trying to impress a Chinese woman, the only way to do it is juggle fire..." (Or maybe it was knives.)
It's an important one to catch, as Penn seems to make a lot of references to it. He didn't seem to have a good time doing it and didn't really like his snooty Canadian crew.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/18 11:15Netflix. I just watched it, I enjoyed it. I know now why Penn hates other countries now.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/18 11:26I got it on amazon; was not too expensive, as I recall - but that was a few months ago. I thought it was well worth the purchase - really interesting and lots of info!

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/18 17:48It was a CBC production. If you're in Canada, odds are you might be able to find it for free loan at your public library.
Its available within the Toronto public library system (although a couple have gone missing!). I can't find a listing for it in the London, Ontario system but my stinky home town of Windsor, Ontario (*spit*) has it. So if you're cheap (like me), check out your library. If you're the wired type, odds are you haven't stepped foot in a public library in the last 10 years. It's amazing what you can find there these days. I'm always impressed when I pop by my local library to do some work on my laptop and I find they subscribe to Dragon magazine and they have RPG books on the shelves.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/18 18:59The best thing about these shows are the "Teller talking to the camera" shorts!
Wonderful!there is no possible use for a signature* except to demonstrate how funny/geeky/cynical/pathetic you are.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2006/12/19 00:56What Vlad said. Such a treat to hear Teller talking ("The Sphinx is BIG!"), and the scene in Egypt where he had a total giggle-attack is my favorite.
The entire series is really interesting and fun to watch. I know the guys had a miserable time making it, but the end result is worth a purchase.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2007/01/15 09:41My husband and I just watched Magic and Mystery tour last night. We rented it from Netflix. I enjoyed it very much, so happy that I finally got to see it. Teller talking and his attack of the giggles WAS awesome. Oh...and showering with goggles on and duct tape over his mouth. Oh man, we laughed.
Penn juggling with the chinese woman...I think he said something along the lines of, the only way to impress a woman who juggles fire/knives on horseback is to juggle broken liquor bottles. I watched all three episodes, AND the extras all in one night, so I have a bit of information overload going on.
One thing I noticed, on the extras, in the P&T bio, it said that Penn was born on March 15th. That's not right, is it? Other sources say his birthday is March 5th. The Magic and Mystery DVD is wrong on that I think. A typo I guess.

Re:Magic and Mystery Tour - 2008/01/13 09:09Hi, fellow P&T fans. I particularly love this little series of documentaries as both a fan of magic and a keen traveler.
After buying the DVD I made a rip and uploaded the torrent on a magic tracker. If anyone here would like a copy, just name the tracker you'd like it on and I'll happily upload it.
