Re:[Season 05] Flordia Sucks - 2006/11/11 04:37 It reminds me a little of when John Stossel did an ABC special to pose the question, "Is America #1?" I wonder if I could find that anywhere.

As a fan of Adam Carolla (who invented the journalism-themed guessing game "Germany or Florida") and a reader of Fark (which has a "Florida" tag for such stories), I can't wait to see what kind of episode might result. But something's fishy here.

This seems disturbingly similar in principle to something Penn was complaining about on his radio show, when ABC News was soliciting the ways global warming was affecting common people, essentially seeking anecdotes to support the conclusion they came up with ahead of time.

P&T's Bullshit has generally been about taking foregone conclusions and knocking the legs out from underneath them. On that note, I'd think it more likely that they're compiling a list of prejudices against Florida, and they intend to defend Florida against these unfair accusations. But I suspect the legal text might have been shorter were that the case.

It seems a more bullshit-proof way to do this would be to determine ahead of time what makes a state in the union suck or not suck, and see how Florida measures up.

I'd like to predict one more angle: it could be a massive dick joke.

Re:[Season 05] Flordia Sucks - 2006/12/15 02:39 I wonder if it's a trick. Maybe they'll use all the complaining about Florida to show that "Complainers are bullshit!" or "You can get people to file 10,000 complaints about ANYTHING" or something of the sort. It seems more in character.
