For the record, that was me (Nick) who made the call about typing with boxing gloves on.
It's no secret that they taped the show in advance, since they closed Thursday's show by saying the next show would be one from the can. So, while I got to hear the first half of that show in advance while I was on hold, I didn't get to hear anything after they hung up on me. And I was much more nervous than I thought I would be. So I spent the whole weekend secretly thinking my call was too long, that I tacked too much stuff on the end of it, maybe hoping they lost the tape.
Well, I listened to it, and either I was fine or they edited it down. I probably jumped the gun on the Randi thing; I was just trying to earn points for mentioning the prize. And from the way they talked about social engineering after the break; if they'd kept me on the line I might not have worried so much.
I'm often astonished at the quality of callers Penn gets, and I wonder if it's because he attracts a better audience, because he has such good call screeners, or because he knows how to make any caller sound great. I still can't tell for sure.
