Holier than Thou - 2006/03/13 14:07 Sorry if this has been discussed already here, but does anyone have information about why this episode of Bullshit was pulled from Showtime on Demand? I assume there was some kind of Catholic protest, but it just quietly disappeared. What gives?

Re:Holier than Thou - 2006/03/13 14:28 I had heard that the issue was not being able to get releases from everyone who appeared in the episode in a prompt fashion, but my attempt to back that up with solid evidence is not working out...
Hopfully someone else will enlighten us both.

Re:Holier than Thou - 2006/03/13 15:21 I think it's just self censorship by Showtime.

I tried to search the official P&T messageboard but I keep getting "No such message" when I click the topics

EDIT: Here is a quote I found on the showtime messageboards.. I happen to know someone who is a PA for this show and he said it was pulled by Showtime due to the overwhelmingly bad response from the public. I think we can safely say that it was the religious right who made this just "go away." I was curious because of the gap in On Demand and asked him point blank about it. The above is what he told me. Then my mother, poor, sweet woman, asked him if Teller ever talks...haha! Hopefully, it will be included in a DVD release.

Re:Holier than Thou - 2006/03/15 11:29 Thanks for the replies. I still can't believe a CABLE channel would bow to this pressure. I mean what the fuck, Showtime shows soft-porn for crying out loud. I'm paying for this cable, and on-demand service, so why should some easily offended religious ass-holes get to decide what I can and can't watch? I did post some comments on the Showtime message board when it first happened, and sent them an e-mail but the whole thing seemed to fizzle out. Why can't I find one hint through Google news about this supposedly overwhelming catholic protest?

Re:Holier than Thou - 2006/03/16 00:58 That's really fucked up. And I agree, Showtime shows porn. Heaven forbid you might actually get some learning. *deep sigh* Have P&T have any other show lined up?

This is just, typical of the religious right.Grah.

Re:Holier than Thou - 2006/03/16 13:11 I'm sure Penn has said this before.. Atheists need to start writing letters like the religious people do. Those goddamn letters get things done.

I wrote an email to showtime last year thanking them for P&T Bullshit! and specifically the Holier Than Thou episode. They even replied. Maybe more people should write showtime and we can get the Scientology ep next season

Here is showtime's email address for anyone that wants it contact@showtime.net
