[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/02/27 16:20 On his radio show penn said that the new season of Bullshit! will have an episode about reparations for african americans.

"You really shouldn't talk about reparations, if you're white." -Penn on the radio

Re:[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/05/16 20:38 i thought the episode was very strong.

some people think penn and teller are bullshit.

Re:[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/05/17 05:37 ha ha! the comments on that LJ thread are hilarious.

this one especially caught my eye...

"Hey Penn, you've got a staff -- have them do some fucking research if you can't do it yourself. Africa wouldn't be a bad place to live at all if we hadn't gone over there and wrecked it. Slavery is just the start of what we've done to Africans."

HEY NOW! what's this "we" shit? I was born 120 years after slavery was abolished.

Re:[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/05/17 19:32 This one jumped out at me

"Saw the previews for that and KNEW I did not want to watch it. Wasn't home in time anyway, so I didn't see it. But I knew it would have pissed me off if I saw it."

I love how he KNEW so much about the show without seeing it. The people on that board are really good at preemptively judging things…..what’s that called again……….oh yeah PREJUDICE.

Re:[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/05/17 20:34 I just finished watching the episode so NOW i feel I can comment on it. It is now obvious to me that no one on that forum bothered to watch the episode to the end when Penn make this very eloquent speech

"A government giving money to the exact individuals, Whose property that same government In the middle of a war took away A couple of decades ago, That doesn't seem entirely out of a line. I mean if I come into your house and break your television I should probably buy you a new one, Maybe even up plasma. But if you're trying to fight racism, Demanding reparations Because people kind of of your race were once Fucked over by people kind of of another race, might not be the best way to reach your ultimate goal. want to really get rid of this bullshit Racism... stop seing yourself as white or black or even American. Be yourself and fuck the tribe. Not just yours, Fuck everyone's tribe. Everyone Fuck Everyone. In a few more generations, No more races so no more racism."

Re:[Season 04] Reparations - 2006/05/20 12:08 This is one that I really did agree on, I believe that all the points they made where genuinely good and just. But despite this I know that people will still have a problem with it, the problem is that they are trying to tackle a huge subject in just a half hour when this definitely needed more time to get the message across other wise another great show.
